The Two Sides Of The Coin

Nicosia Old Town

Overview
The divided capital of both North and South Cyprus, also known as Lefkosa. The close encounter between the Turkish and Greek sides creates an interesting culture to be a part of, although the two don’t mix very much, as far as we saw.

As the capital and cultural center of Cyprus, Nicosia really shines when it comes to archeology and ancient times. The history can be explored in the many museums or the old ruins of buildings that are found all around the capital.
Co-Works
Nicosia is not yet a digital nomad hub, so your options will mostly be coffee shops for remote work; however, it is likely that this will change in the next few years.

Yfantourgeio TheWorkplace

Not your typical coworking space with high-end tables and chairs, reception, and so on. When first entering you might confuse it with a cozy coffee shop in the heart of an old city. But it actually offers a paid co-work plan and a very communal and friendly atmosphere to network, work, drink coffee, etc. So definitely check it out!

Nomad Friendly Cafe's

iheart cafe

Quite a spacious place (~50 seats) that lets you blend in seamlessly with your laptop and be productive. The second floor even doesn't put music on if you really need the focus to hit a deadline or just to avoid the casual chit chats downstairs. Besides that, they offer premium coffee and casual food so you can spend the day with all your needs being satisfied.

coffee house

The coffee house is a chain of cafes with many shops around Cyprus. The Nicosia central branch that we tried was so inviting and easygoing that we decided to add it to this list. It's simple but has the right balance to allow for working, drinking, and eating so you can happily spend a few hours there without needing to leave. And hey, they have coffee cocktails too!

Costa coffee

Another chain of coffee shops you probably will come across at some point. When it is fully occupied and noisy it might not be the best place to work from, but on a quiet morning before the rush, it can be a very relaxing and productive place to work from and grab a snack.

You might adore it and might think it’s pointless. This method of preparing food inside grape leaves is maybe not typical to Cyprus, but Koupepia takes this dish to another level with the many spices and meat filling inside.
Restaurants and Bars

Patio Cocktail Bar

A place that puts the effort in the experience, and succeeds to deliver. The beautiful vintage-looking staircase. The awesome patio garden, colorful windows, and unique tropical vibe make it a must-see cocktail bar, before even starting to talk about the cocktails or tapas that are brilliantly served.

Lost + Found Drinkery

Once voted as one of the world's 50 best bars, it has become a popular night out among young crowds. The menu is very diverse when it comes to cocktails and delicious when it comes to food, especially the burgers or crepes. They are proud to announce that they make many of their cocktails with ingredients that grow just outside of the bar like eucalyptus, fig, lemons, and more.

BrewFellas

A bar for craft beer lovers! As craft beer lovers ourselves, this place really left us satisfied for many reasons. It had a really friendly atmosphere and the people just enjoyed talking about beer. And the beers, well you gotta try them! If you are not sure which to try, the staff will gladly pick a good choice for you.

Kathodon Greek Restaurant & Coffee Shop

These kinds of restaurants or taverns are pretty much all over the place. Still, we recommend checking this one out anyway. A truly authentic experience with live music, energetic waiters, marvelous meze dishes, and a prime location. Maybe this was why it was always full when we passed by!

Silver Star Wine Bar

The casual after-work place to be. In the city center, on a street corner, with wine barrels that cheerful young enjoyers sit around them, this is how you will know you are at the right place. In case you visit later at night, you will find even more people enjoying the ambiance, listening to local DJs playing alternative music, and socializing with their choice of drink in hand.
