Underrated, Undiscovered, Undisputable

Ljubljanica River

Overview
The capital and primary metropolis is a city we came to without knowing what exactly to expect. Is it a Balkan vibe? European vibe? We found out that Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful and relaxing cities we have ever seen. And by that we refer primarily to the central, old city area in which we lived.

Slovenia is not a big country with a population of only 2 million, and Ljubljana only with less than 250k which makes it feels like a more intimate place, reflecting this calming atmosphere from the locals that you will feel everywhere you go. The city has the Ljubljanica lake passing through it, and many parks and castles to visit.
Co-Works
Compared to its neighbors, it’s not yet a bustling tech hub, considering its humble size, but it seems like a few years from now it may gain some positive traction as more people discover it and want to settle there. Most of the places we researched were offices for rent rather than hot desk co-works, but there are still a few work-friendly spots available as covered below.

ABC Hub
ABC Hub

ABC Hub

More popular among start-ups and long-term lease seekers, but they do offer 90EU/m spaces that will give you access to all the faculties you need while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere working alongside young and tech-savvy people from all over the world.

Nomad Friendly Cafe's

Cincin

A place with quite the hype and respect around town. It functions as a go-to bar during the evening which might be too noisy to try working from, but during the day you can hop in and take advantage of the high-speed internet, an abundance of outlets, and comfortable chairs or couches. The bonus is that if you are done working and it's already evening, there's no need to go anywhere else for a good cocktail or beer and a nice hangout. Talk about multipurpose!

Kavarna Rog

Opens early for all of you early birds, and serves popular, delicious breakfasts, which are a must-try if you are already here. The design is modern and clean, and the staff is very friendly. We wouldn't recommend a whole day of work there as it gets busy quite quickly, but it's definitely a great place to start the day and answer emails or whatnot.

Pritlicje

Not the traditional laptop cafe, but it was conveniently right outside our apartment so it was inevitable we'd eventually try it out. During the day you can easily catch a spot and chill for a few hours, enjoy a good coffee, and get some work done. They have a vast beer selection if you want to spice it up or celebrate the end of the day with a tasty drink.

The go-to dessert of Slovenia. A custard and dough layered cake that is very hard to eat without getting cream all over your face. Its exact origin is unknown but you will find it here in abundance.
Restaurants and Bars

Julija

A great restaurant right on the riverside. Serving a variety of dishes, some local, Italian, and grilled meat or seafood. The quality and taste are top class. It's hard to imagine anyone could go here and not love it.

TaBar

A tapas bar from another world. We were very impressed by the clever and unique dishes that proved they weren't afraid to take risks. It is a bit expensive, especially if you want to taste many dishes, but they have some deals to help a bang for your buck. Accompanied with fine wine, this is a truly unique culinary experience.

Capriccio Ristopizza‬

Some say it is the best pizza in town. We can't commit that far, but they definitely serve a great pie. Authentic, not-trying-too-hard design, making the Italian cuisine experience more credible.

‪Kodila Gourmet‬

Located in a central location just beside the market, it's the first recommendation for anyone who wants to experience a more Slovenian traditional restaurant and enjoy the street on a sunny day or vibrant evening.
