Jerusalem

A City of Many Histories

The Western Wall

Overview
Stories about this ancient capital city date way back in time making it an interesting place for whoever is a history and/or culture buff, or particularly interested in the history of the three dominant religions that coexist in Israel; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Even if you aren’t drawn to its rich history, travelers will be delighted by the old architecture and bustling markets; fancy hotels and chic restaurants; and diverse nature and communities all over the city.

The various cultures represented amplify the political arguments and general tension. Hopefully, this will not be terribly noticeable while visiting; however, it may be interesting to hear the opinions of your native neighbors and local acquaintances who can provide their insight on the conflict from first-hand experience.
Co-Works
The availability of co-working spaces depends on where you are located, but they can typically be found in most regions, making it relatively easy to find an ideal place to work from.

WeWork Jerusalem

WeWork offers modern private offices next to shared spaces, right in the center of the city. You will enjoy free coffee, a pet-friendly atmosphere, event venue space, and easy access to public transportation. Similar to other WeWork spaces, we wouldn't call it a "coworking community," as it is more of a coworking space with extra comfort.

‏The Post Hostel

This Jerusalem vibe hostel will provide you with a truly affordable subscription and spacious working areas, all while being centrally located. In the complex, you will also find a very nice rooftop that offers a great view of the city.

Nomad Friendly Cafe's

Nordic Café

A coffee shop that many students in the area visit often to lounge and work alongside foreign visitors, making it feel like a multicultural space. The menu is also known for being one of the best in town.

Coffee Bezalel

Close to the well-respected school of art Bezalel, this cafe is typical of its surroundings and attracts all kinds of artists and visitors. It opens on Saturday which is a plus, and the breakfasts are also top-notch.

Jerusalem Mixed Grill is a local dish made with organ meats, like chicken hearts, spleen, and liver, mixed with lamb, then cooked on a flat grill. It can be served inside a bread of any sort or spread over a good hummus.
Restaurants and Bars

Ishtabach

A charming place. Not overly fancy, and it doesn't try too hard to impress its guests with frills or fluff. The lively atmosphere can be attributed to the welcoming, smiley waiters, and nothing less than an excellent menu. Ishtacach serves many types of food, but with a strong orientation towards Mediterranean-style food. The Syrian kebab is our personal recommendation.

Mona

Lovely staff and service, which you can see mentioned over and over again in their reviews. You can go for a diverse meal by ordering a bunch of their amazing appetizers, or by trying their variation of many dishes that are carefully made to perfection. Their portions are not large, so it's a great place to sample many menu items.

Dublin Irish Pub

One of the best pubs in town, judging by the number of people who are regulars. The greatest appeal of this restaurant is the large selection of beers, great food, and fine music.

Bardak Pizza Bar

Don't expect a fast-food experience, but rather a true bar experience with tasty, signature specialty pizzas. You can order craft beers and cocktails at affordable prices.

Hataklit Bar

If you are looking for the most authentic local bar with a neighborhood vibe and specialty beers, this is the place for you. Football lovers can also catch an occasional match broadcasted here.

BeerBazaar

At the heart of the most famous market in the city lies a spacious beer garden that is gaining respect nationally, with multiple locations opening outside the city. With over 100 different boutique beers alongside good food and a vibrant atmosphere, the BeerBazaar makes a great night out.

Glen Whisk(e)y bar

They specialize in whisky from all over the world, while also offering quality beer choices if spirits are not your thing. It is open every evening, which is not obvious in this crazy city.
